How to export a WhatsApp chat

Open the chat, tap the menu, choose Export chat, and select "Without media." WhatsApp creates a .txt file you can save or share. On iPhone, the export opens in the share sheet; on Android, you can save it to Drive, Files, or email.
On iPhone
Open the chat, tap the contact name or group title, scroll to Export Chat, and choose Without media. From the share sheet, save it to Files or send it to yourself.
On Android
Open the chat, tap the three-dot menu, choose More, then Export chat, and select Without media. Save the .txt file to Files, Google Drive, or share it by email.
Before you upload
Keep the file on your own device until you are ready. HerSubtext processes the transcript in memory and does not store the full conversation — only the report it generates.

Why choose "Without media"?
The text export is much smaller and contains the message history you need. Media is not used for the read.
Does exporting notify the other person?
No. Exporting a chat is a private action on your own device and does not notify the other person.
Can I export a group chat?
Yes, the same steps work for individual and group chats. For relationship reads, choose the conversation with the person you are trying to understand.
